Olivia Cuartero-Briggs was born and raised in New York City, attending Saint Ann's School in Brooklyn Heights, where she spent most of her time in the theater. She then went on to earn a bachelors degree with honors in theater performance from Oberlin College, bought a cheap convertible, and took off for Los Angeles. There, OCB spent six years buzzing around the independent film scene in every role from cast member to camera department, and first assistant director. During this time, OCB received a best screenplay award from the Flint International Film Festival, and decided it was time to turn her writing hobby into a career. OCB attended NYU Tisch Asia, earning a Masters Degree in dramatic writing.

 

OCB's professional writing career began in New York City where she produced an anthology of her short plays, entitled Bottles on the Water at Off-Broadway's Arthur Seleen Theater, as well as her full-length play, Ronnie's Cabinet, at Cabrini Reperatory, winning the New York Theater Festival's award for best original play.

OCB then returned to Los Angeles where she worked as a writers' assistant on CBS's Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, an executive assistant on E! Entertainment's The Arrangement, before going on to write for two seasons of the show. 

​

OCB discovered her love for comic book writing through her good friend and mentor Adam Glass, with whom she co-wrote her first book Mary Shelley Monster Hunter with Aftershock Comics. While writing for USA's Queen of the South and Mike Shur's Field of Dreams, OCB wrote and created Silver City with Aftershock Comics, Jill and the Killers with Oni Press, Fate: The Winx Saga, Dark Destiny Volume 1 and 2 with Maverick, and Kill Train with Mad Cave Studios.

OCB currently has several TV projects in development with Black Camel, 3PAS, WV Entertainment, and others. She also has unnanounced books in the works with Humanoids, Maverick, and Scholastic.

OCB lives in Los Angeles with her amazing daughters, two dogs, two cats, a rabbit, and awesome husband.
